THE CHAOS FACTOR
Between this year and last, you have to wonder just what makes Hogwarts attract so much chaos?
Its location is hardly ideal for most creatures – humans included! – and with so many students over the centuries, how has the last poltergeist been only the second to form after the infamous Peeves.
There are hundreds of arguments – volume of students, the decline of purebloods, the rise of magitech, post-millennials and gen z's – but none of these proves anything.
Compiling a list of everything that happened last year, there's only one conclusion:
Okay, so maybe not in the dungeons directly, but close enough that a poltergeist set up shop there for the greater part of a month. Between trolls, acromantulas, potions issues (I'm sure nobody's forgotten the love cloud or body swap episode) happening in close proximity, there's just too much happening, and not enough of it pleasant.
Things like this make me grateful I'm up in a tower, however cool Slytherin's underwater view supposedly is.
Let's just hope, collectively, that nothing too bad happens this year that results in another poltergeist spawning next year.
For the first and second years' sakes if nothing else.
